Listen to this production here:

Veronelli was back to his best later to sing Enzo in “La Gioconda”; in fact during the company’s visit to the Opera House Cork he also sang Manrico to great acclaim. Bernadette Greevy sang Laura in Dario Micheli’s production of “Gioconda” and Patrick Murray did the sets which were described as ‘both evocative and spectacular’ . According to Mary MacGoris (Irish Independent) it was an absorbing first night with the Irish Ballet Company performing beautiflilly in the ‘Dance of the Hours’ and the opera principals, notably soprano Lorenza Canepa in the title role and Antonio Salvadori (Barnaba) first-rate. In her view, Bernadette Greevy’s voice was ‘strong and splendid’ as Laura while Ruth Maher, as the blind woman, conveyed the part beautifully.
